Research lecture on robotics and Artificial Intelligence held by Professor Fulvio from the University of Genoa, Italy

On March 25, 2025, in order to enhance students' understanding of the cutting-edge technologies in the field of embodied intelligent robots and artificial intelligence, Fulvio Mastrogiovann, a famous overseas mechanical engineering teacher from the University of Genoa, Italy, gave a lecture on robot and artificial intelligence research in Hall 1002, Building 29. Students of mechanical engineering, intelligent manufacturing engineering and other undergraduate majors and some graduate students of the College of Intelligent Control participated in this activity.

In the lecture, Professor Fulvio introduced the general situation of the University of Genoa in Italy, as well as the teaching and recent scientific research progress related to robotics at the University of Genoa. The lecture focuses on research advances in two key areas of robotics: embodied intelligent robots and artificial intelligence. Embodied intelligent robot is an agent with physical form, which realizes tasks through sensing environment, autonomous decision-making and physical interaction, and relies on sensors, actuators and AI algorithms to realize intelligent behavior. The current hot artificial intelligence (AI) is a computer system that simulates human intelligence, covers machine learning, natural language processing and other technologies, is good at data analysis, pattern recognition and decision-making, and has a variety of application scenarios, and can run without entities. In combination, AI provides the brain for the robot, and the robot gives the physical interaction ability to AI, and jointly promote intelligent applications.

At the end of the lecture, the students raised questions about robot technology and future development, and Professor Fulvio patiently answered and interacted with them, enabling the students to have a deeper understanding of the advanced technology and development direction in the field of robotics. This activity is a part of the teaching and lectures of overseas famous teachers of Zhikong College to participate in the research of students, to promote the teachers and students of the college to understand the cutting-edge technology related to robotics, to further promote the international exchange work of the college and to broaden the international vision of students.
